Dozens of vehicles and homes erupt in flames after oil tanker explodes

<p>LAGOS, Nigeria - A spectacular collision on Saturday between an oil tanker and a water truck in the Nigerian state of Gombe, in the northeast of the country, has left ten people dead.</p><p>An official said the oil tanker exploded on impact damaging, and in some case destroying, numerous other vehicles and nearby houses. At least 10 people were burnt to death.</p><p>&quot;The accident involved an oil tanker, which collided with a water truck along Yola road in Gombe. 10 persons were burnt beyond recognition while 16 others suffered varying degrees of burns,&quot; Sadiq Alkali, spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, was quolted as saying by the Anadolu Agency.<br /><br />Alkali said tthe 16 injured people were evacuated to various hospitals in Gombe state.<br /><br />He added that dozens of vehicles and houses were also affected in the explosion.</p><p>(File photo).</p>
